The short answer
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of your teeth to change their color, shape and length. At Pebble Beach Dental, veneers are typically completed in two visits about two weeks apart and, with good care, often last 10–15 years or longer.

Why porcelain?
High-quality dental porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel and resists coffee, tea and wine stains far better than composite resin. It is also strong once bonded, which is why porcelain veneers remain the gold standard for long-lasting cosmetic change.
How many veneers do I need?
Some patients need one or two veneers to fix a single chipped or discolored tooth. A full smile makeover usually includes six to ten upper teeth — the ones visible when you smile broadly. We will show you what each option looks like before you commit.
Caring for your veneers
Brush with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss daily, avoid biting ice or opening packages with your teeth, and wear a night guard if you clench or grind.
Who porcelain veneers are right for

Porcelain Veneers FAQs
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
No. Only a thin layer of enamel is refined, and the tooth underneath stays healthy with normal brushing and checkups.
Can veneers be whitened?
Porcelain does not whiten, so we recommend whitening any natural teeth first and matching the veneers to your ideal shade.
Do veneers hurt?
Preparation is done with local anesthesia. Mild sensitivity for a few days is normal.
Will people know I have veneers?
Not if they are designed well. We aim for natural shape and translucency, not a uniform “piano key” look.
Can I get veneers on bottom teeth?
Yes, though most people only show their upper teeth when smiling.
