Key takeaway
On All-on-4® surgery day you arrive, receive sedation, and have any failing teeth removed and four implants placed. After a rest, your fixed temporary teeth are attached — most patients go home the same day with a complete smile and a soft-food plan for recovery.
Before you arrive
Eat as instructed, take prescribed medications, wear comfortable clothes, and bring a companion to drive you home if you are having sedation.
The procedure
Once you are relaxed, any remaining failing teeth are removed and the area is cleaned. Four implants are placed using the plan from your 3D CT scan — two straight in front and two angled in back to take advantage of denser bone.
Your same-day smile
While you rest, your fixed temporary bridge is adjusted and attached to the implants. You leave with teeth that are secured — no removable denture during healing.
The first week
Expect swelling and soreness that peaks around day two or three. Stick to soft foods, use ice, rinse as directed, and take medications on schedule. Most people return to desk work within a few days.
- Smoothies, eggs, yogurt and soups
- No straws or smoking
- Follow-up visit within about a week
